Post Hair Transplant Suggestions

Not merely the efforts of adept surgeons are required to ensure desired results after the surgery. The patients also require following some instructions to improve their outward appearance with permanent and undetectable hair restoration surgery. Do not self treat yourself under any condition. Recovery takes time. Be patient and act upon post operative instructions to avoid any problem.   

Surgery is carried out under local anesthesia that usually numbs the area for three to four hours. Once the anesthesia wears off, some pain and discomfort with soreness of scalp and minor swelling can be experienced by patients. Luckily, the pain and swelling is temporary that can be treated with painkillers. It is suggested to take care of scalp by using certified medications. This will help reducing swelling and irritation in scalp because patient is suggested not to touch the scalp under any circumstances after undergoing the surgery.  

   

For the first night, it is necessary to elevate your head. You must sleep in semi upright position with two or more pillows to prop up your head. Keep your head elevated for three days following the surgery.

Don’t touch newly grafted hair. Whatever discomfort or soreness you experience but don’t touch new grafted areas.

Avoid drinking coffee for at least one day after the surgery. Do not resume smoking for a month as it interrupts blood flow to the hair follicles which is essential for hair growth.

You have to quit eating spicy dishes for some time after the surgery as such food interferes with healing process.   

You can shampoo your hair after 48 hours of the surgery. Make sure to use PH-balanced shampoo. During initial days, pour water over head by using a receptacle. After seven day, you are allowed to use shower jet.

Avoid all kinds of physical activities for one week after the hair transplant surgery. Avoid blowing your nose strongly, leaning forward and sexual activity.

Avoid sun exposure if your scalp is swollen and pink. Don’t forget to wear hat before going under the sun.

If you want to get desired outcomes after the surgery, make sure to follow above mentioned instructions. In case of severe pain, discomfort, bleeding or infection, immediately contact your surgeon.
